Maintenance Built for Modified Vehicles
The owner's manual was written for a stock car. Add a supercharger, turbo, nitrous, or a built engine, and the service intervals change with it. We build a maintenance plan around your combination — so the power you paid for stays reliable.
Why Stock Intervals Don't Apply
More Power Means More Heat, More Load & Shorter Intervals
Every aftermarket upgrade shifts the maintenance math. A supercharger or turbo puts more heat and cylinder pressure into the engine. A stroker build works its bearings, rings, and fasteners harder than the factory ever planned for. Nitrous leans on the ignition system and fuel delivery every time you hit the button. Higher cylinder pressures also demand more from spark plugs — the wrong heat range or a worn electrode misfires under load far sooner than it would in a stock engine. The result is the same across the board: fluids break down faster, wear parts wear sooner, and the small problems that a stock car shrugs off become the failures that take a build down.
That's not a reason to stay stock — it's a reason to service the car like what it actually is. At Wisco Speed & Performance, we maintain modified vehicles for a living, and we set inspection and fluid schedules around your parts, your power level, and how you drive it. Whether we built the car with you through our engine build and power adder programs or you're bringing us a build from another shop, we'll keep it healthy.
What Changes When You Modify
The Six Areas Modified Cars Demand More From
These are the systems we watch closest on boosted, nitrous, and built vehicles — the ones that quietly decide whether a combination stays reliable or ends up back on an engine stand.
01
Fluids Under Heat & Load
Boost and big power cook fluids faster than factory schedules assume. Oil, transmission fluid, and differential fluid all need shorter intervals on a hard-driven build.
- Engine oil changed on a load-based schedule, not the sticker on the windshield
- Transmission & diff fluid matched to the driveline upgrades
- Fluid condition checked at every visit — see General Fluid Changes
02
Belts, Hoses & Clamps Under Boost
A supercharger drive belt lives a harder life than any accessory belt, and boosted intake plumbing is only as good as its weakest clamp. Small leaks cost power and hide bigger problems.
- Blower & accessory belts checked for wear, tension & alignment
- Charge piping, couplers & clamps inspected for boost leaks
- Vacuum & coolant hoses reviewed before they let go
03
Spark Plugs & Ignition
Tuned power levels ask more of the ignition system. The wrong plug, the wrong gap, or a tired coil shows up as misfire under load — right when cylinder pressure is highest.
- Plugs read and replaced on a power-appropriate interval
- Heat range & gap matched to boost or nitrous
- Coils, wires & sensors checked — see Electrical & Sensors
04
Fasteners & Mounts
High-horsepower launches and hard shifts work every mount and fastener in the driveline. Torque checks are cheap; a walked header bolt or torn engine mount is not.
- Engine, transmission & diff mounts inspected under load
- Critical fasteners torque-checked periodically
- Driveline hardware reviewed after break-in and hard use
05
Cooling System Upkeep
More power is more heat, full stop. The cooling system that was adequate at stock power is the margin between a fun season and a head gasket on a modified one.
- Coolant condition & system pressure tested regularly
- Radiator, fans & intercooler checked for capacity and flow
- Oil & trans temps reviewed against how the car is driven
06
Re-Tuning & Dyno Checks
A tune isn't set-and-forget. Parts wear in, fuel changes, and every new bolt-on shifts the combination. Periodic dyno checks catch drift before it costs parts.
- Datalog & tune review as parts wear in
- Re-tune whenever the combination changes
- Verified on our in-house rollers — see Dyno Tuning
A Plan for Your Combination — Not a One-Size-Fits-All Sticker
A daily-driven cam-only truck, a supercharged weekend car, and a nitrous drag build all need different schedules. That's why we don't hand out a generic interval chart. We look at your parts, your power level, and how the car actually gets driven, then lay out what needs attention now, what to watch, and when to come back.
We're not the cheapest place to service a modified car — we're the shop that knows what a modified car actually needs, because we build them in the same building.
